From a cellulose fibre clutch to Via d'Azeglio: twelve years of Gamberini bags
In 2013 I built a small clutch in cellulose fibre. It was called Zoje: no leather, a material nobody used for bags, and every millimetre already decided.
More than a decade has passed since then. Let me tell you about it one model at a time.
2014 — The debut at WHITE Milano
The first collection — Zoje, Bavoll and Maraveja — arrived at WHITE Milano as an emerging proposal. Three models in cellulose fibre, with Bolognese names, and the Cameo Exchange from day one.
Those stands and those buyers convinced me of one thing: the vision had a market beyond Bologna.
2015 — The Night and Via d'Azeglio
The Night was born: it's the bag you still recognise from a distance, and the first one to carry the cameo on leather. In October I opened the shop in Via d'Azeglio 5/A, and it has been my home ever since.
2016-2019 — The family grows
Day, Shopper, Backpack, Springa, Little arrive: one model a year, each with a precise reason. In 2018 the first orders from outside Italy came in, from Russia and the United States.
2020-2023 — The pandemic and the recovery
Two difficult years don't stop the drawing: Lady, Sofy, Curly, Margherita, Half-Moon, Marlene, Ubertina, Jane are born. E-commerce grows and the brand holds.
2024 — The Lion
With the Luna I celebrate ten years. For the first time the oval doesn't hold an interchangeable cameo but a gilded brass Lion, inspired by the Fountain of Neptune. A tribute to my city that stays put.
2025 and beyond
Emilia, Allegra, and the Springa Peonia Camoscio for the wedding line. The brand keeps writing itself, one model at a time.
