From a cellulose fiber to Via D'Azeglio: 12 years of Gamberini bags
In 2013, I crafted a small clutch from cellulosic fiber. It was called Zoje. It was unusual, sustainable, and a far cry from the leather that would become the heart of the brand — but it was already meticulously designed down to every millimeter.
Twelve years have passed since then. Let me tell you about them.
2014 — Debut at WHITE in Milan
The first real collection — Zoje, Bavoll, and Maraveja — was presented at WHITE in Milan as an emerging proposal. Those stands, those international buyers, that electric atmosphere convinced me: the vision had a market beyond Bologna.
2015 — The Night and Via D'Azeglio
The Night was born, the iconic silhouette that introduced the Cameo Exchange. It's the bag you still recognize immediately today. In October of that year, I opened the monobrand store in Via D'Azeglio 5/A — it has been my home ever since.
2016-2019 — The family grows
The Day, the Shopper, the Backpack, the Springa, the Little arrived. A new model every year, each with a precise reason. In 2018, I opened the first international markets — Russia and Los Angeles.
2020-2023 — The pandemic and recovery
Two difficult years did not stop creativity: Lady, Sofy, Curly, Margherita, Half-Moon, Marlene, Ubertina, Jane were born. The e-commerce channel grew. The brand endured.
2024 — The Lion of Bologna
With the Luna model, I celebrate ten years. For the first time in Gamberini's history, the oval does not host an interchangeable cameo — but a gilded brass Lion, inspired by the Fountain of Neptune. A permanent and precious tribute to my city.
2025 and beyond
Emilia, Allegra, and the Springa Peonia Camoscio for the wedding line. The brand continues to write its story, one model at a time.
