Gamberini: why I put my surname on a bag

Gamberini: perché ho messo il mio cognome su una borsa

When the time came to give the brand a name, I didn't hesitate. I could have invented something international, evocative, worked out at a desk. I chose my surname.

A name that is an address

In Bologna, Gamberini isn't just any surname: it's a word that tastes of streets in the old town and of coffee under the porticoes. Choosing it was my way of saying where I come from, with no filter.

If you carry a bag of mine, you carry a piece of this city with you: the city of the oldest university in the Western world, of the porticoes, of the layers of plaster we didn't cover up in the shop either.

What a signature means

Putting your own surname on a product means answering for it in person: for every stitch, for every hide chosen, for every bag that comes out of the hands of the artisans we work with.

It isn't a formula: it's a pact with you who choose Gamberini, and with the city that made me.

Tradition in movement

Being Gamberini today means holding two things together: a surname that has always existed in Bologna, and a bag that changes face whenever you decide it should.

In the end it isn't trends that last. It's the stories that have a first name and a surname.
